Award of Excellence in Economic Development PromotionSince adoption of a comprehensive economic development strategic plan in 1996, the Redevelopment Agency has successfully implemented a variety of marketing and promotion strategies that have leveraged the community’s attributes as well as established a positive business image.
The
California Association for Local Economic Development recognized this with an Award of Excellence.
The City has received local, regional, and even national recognition for a comprehensive plan that includes:
- Ad campaigns
- Direct mailing
- Site selection information
- Trade shows
- Editorials
- Press releases
- Economic development web site
In its award citation, the Awards Committee noted this program was a city-based effort, rather than a chamber or EDC effort, that successfully communicated a "pro-business" attitude at City Hall.
In addition, the program employed "sniper targeting" rather than mass mailing to reach specific targets, successfully coordinating a multitude of tools in its campaign.
